Children and ICD

The issue here is that children all around the world are not
given their basic human rights. These kids do not have access to food, water,
education or healthcare. In order to survive they have to do manual
labour. Or they are forced into becoming
child soldiers and commit acts of brutality at a young age, which leaves them
traumatized. Young girls are forced into
marriage with elderly men. This is concerning for our future tomorrow. Can you
imagine what such traumatized children would grow up to be? Children who have
experienced such abuse themselves go on to become perpetrators of such abuse
onto others. Not only that, how are we expecting poverty to end? If we don’t do
anything about it now, it will continue to grow more and more. Issues as such
don’t resolve on their own, we the people have to take initiative to do
something about it. The reason I used these images is because its shows these
children in their worst state, sick and fragile to the point when I myself was
unable to look at the images for too long. They kick in that natural instinct
of gruesomeness. However, I think it is essential that people see these types
of images, so that they can become aware of the harsh reality of the third
world countries. Sometimes we get so immune to hearing stories of poverty like
it’s a normal thing. My goal here is to elicit an emotional response of shock
when people look at these images, so that they don’t take it as something they
hear and see everyday. I believe that there
is more beyond the pictures, there’s a story it tells of a never-ending cycle.
